Three Thousand pupils from across Norfolk have been invited to take part in The Grand Sing with Gareth Malone at this year’s Royal Norfolk Show!

This year, Norfolk Music Hub are partnering with Royal Norfolk Agricultural AssociationCharangaBig Sky Creative and Gareth Malone to bring an exciting opportunity for Norfolk schools to join together and sing live at the Royal Norfolk Show as part of the programme in The Grand Ring.

The performance will take place on Wednesday 28th June 2023 at 12:20pm and will feature young people from all corners of the county coming together in song for an epic celebration like no other.

A specially selected programme has been put together for the event, which will be led by Gareth Malone, including an extra special version of ‘Flourish Song – We are Norfolk’ which has been written and composed by the young people of Norfolk themselves and will be premiered in its entirety in The Grand Ring.

Gareth Malone has helped galvanise the British choral scene through his award-winning BBC series, concert tours and recordings. Gareth is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Music where he studied with Janice Chapman and Jonathan Papp. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of East Anglia and Freedom of the City of London in 2010. In 2012 he was made OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours for services to music and his latest high-profile project has been working with the Coronation Choir for Sing for the King on BBC One.

Led by Norfolk County Council, Norfolk Music Hub is a partnership of organisations who engage with Norfolk’s young people in music-making. The partnership between Norfolk Music Hub and The Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association is now in its sixth year of offering high quality progression opportunities, incredible massed participation extravaganzas and a yearlong programme of activity enabling Norfolk’s young people to get involved in performance opportunities like no other.
